Nowadays there are apps with a multitude of purposes, not just for entertainment’s sake, but which can really be actually useful. For instance, the following apps that we will enumerate are designed exclusively to help you save money and cut off unnecessary expenditure.

OrSaveIt. Spending can be like smoking; in a word, addictive. OrSaveIt would come to be the digital equivalent of chewing gum every time you want a smoke. The main idea behind this app for the iPhone is to curtail impulsive shopping; in order to do so the user can easily set up a goal and keep track of how much money they have saved towards accomplishing that goal. Furthermore, the app developers are planning to add more features such as a ‘spending alarm clock,’ and a clever GPS function that would give warnings about near spending locations.

Reedemia. If you consider yourself to be a deal hound, then Reedemia is the iPhone and Smartphone app for you. What it does is filter offers from websites like Groupon, KGB Deals, Wowcher, and others, so that you don’t have to sort through a myriad daily emails from those and the more than 50 other deal sites. Moreover, Reedemia will adapt to your tastes and interests, and will take into account products, services and locations, and include everything in a convenient single daily email.

MySupermarket.com. This app has a few characteristics that can be very helpful to shoppers. For example, it can check the best prices at places like Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Ocado, by scanning a product’s barcode. It also has a ‘Best Buys’ feature that allows you to find great deals.

Fuel School. This is an iPhone app that can help you to save up to 10% in your gasoline bill, among other benefits. Fuel School uses the iPhone’s GPS and includes eco driving tips and an advice section. All of that works together to improve your driving style and fuel efficiency rate. On top of that, it calculates total time of journey, distance travelled, total inefficient driving time, and total efficient driving time, for only £0.69.

HotUKDeals. The HotUkDeals.com app is a deal finder that filters, sorts, and shares deals on Twitter, Facebook, Text or Email. Additionally, it displays a thumbnail image in the deal list, and has settings that allow you to customise it.

BillTracker. This app helps you to keep track of your monthly bills by reminding you of scheduled payments; recording account details, and registers every payment you make. BillTracker very simple but very useful.

Piggie. You can introduce and categorise your spending into this app in real time, and then trace back and see where and on what you have been spending too much.

Bear in mind that many apps are free, but not all of them. However, the right app can help to recover the money you’ve spent on it, and then some.
